Pick a character and I will give and explain the top five ideas/concepts/etc I keep in mind while writing that character that I believe are essential to accurately depicting them. Any and all characters welcome ( including ones I haven't written but might know about...)

1.) Katara totally has a maternal streak a mile wide. Of course, this also means that she's a huge Mama Bear, which is one of the reasons why she's so dangerous in combat. There are four to six people she's looking after, who have a tendency to get into fights. You don't mess with her family or friends.

2.) She also has some slight criminal tendencies. When the group is stealing Fire Nation clothes, she cheerfully calls dibs on an outfit she likes and runs off to get it, while everyone else is trying to get themselves to follow. There's also when she meets Hama and suggests that the woman use a fruit vendor's affections to get free food.

3.) In spite of the above, it takes a lot for her to do something seriously dangerous or harmful to another person. She resisted learning bloodbending for as long as she could, and was even uncomfortable at the thought of killing plants by pulling the water out of them. Her using bloodbending to track down her mother's murderer was meant to show how unnaturally ruthless and angry she was.

4.) Katara is very resourceful and clever. Just look at all the tricks she uses to use her waterbending in combat. Heck, look at how she beat Azula! Or, for a non-combat example, look at her idea to get herself and Toph into the party in Ba-Sing-Se.

5.) As maternal as she can be, Katara also has a playful side. She enjoys things like dancing, dressing up, or going to fancy parties.
