Heya, guys and girls! A lot of you are probably aware of the ongoing Mortal Instruments group sporkings we've been doing. Well, I'm here to see if you guys are interested in tackling a group sporking of another bit of published fanfiction: Gabriel's Inferno, by Sylvain Reynard.

For those of you unfamiliar with it, the book began as a Twilight Human!AU fanfiction by the title of "The University of Edward Masen", in which Edward is a brooding college professor and Bella is a sweet student with a history of neglect and emotional abuse, and they met once in the past and loved each other ever since, a la Dante and Beatrice.

Yeah, going off of that, the Suethor shoves a lot of references to the Divine Comedy in there, especially the relationship between Dante and Beatrice. So for those of you fond of the classics? This is something you'll want to get in on.

Besides that, it shares many of the bad qualities of other fanfiction knock-offs. The characters keep their canon loathesome traits, and in some cases they even get amplified. Julia (Not!Bella) shows brief flickers of sense, which are hampered by her refusal to give up on Gabriel (Not!Edward), no matter how much of a douchebag he is to her. Meanwhile, neither of them seem to consider the implications of a professor dating his student. The story is pretentious as all fuck, Not!Jacob is HORRIBLE (granted we're not supposed to consider him a love interest, but like many Suethors, Reynard seemed to think that making him as overblown as possible was the only way to have him be credible as a villain), and Leah is turned into his partner-in-crime who does anal sex with him and is prominently bisexual and...yeah, sexuality is a whole 'nother can of worms here. There's the stupid religious references, the way Julia's treated like a child and a scared bunny rabbit (her romantic false lead even gives her the nickname of "Rabbit", even though she has no clue why), the obvious Twilight elements, and Gabriel's foot fetish. Which we hear about far more than is necessary.

So yeah, is anyone interested in participating in a group sporking of this and it's sequels? If so, sound off and I'll get a sign-up sheet started. Ideally, we'll try to get things started quickly, and hopefully start posting this group sporking after City of Ashes is done. So let me know, and I'll get the ball rolling!

Hey, folks! ZeldaQueen here, and I have a few things to update you all about.

As you may have noticed, I've got the Crescendo sporking up and running again! I'm afraid I've been neglecting it between my other sporkings and the holiday rush at work, however it's still ongoing. I've got a few more chapters in the works, so it should chug along nicely now.

As a head's up for folks, the next few chapters of my various sporkings may be a little different in terms of font and such. The reason for that is because I'll be doing most of them in a Word document on my netbook, since it's easiest for me to get stuff done during the commute to and from work. Somehow, when I get home, I'm too exhausted to focus and get anything sporked. So I plan to seize the free time I have while out during the day and get that done. Hopefully a slight change in font isn't a bad trade-off for sporkings being a bit more regular, but if it ever gets too difficult to read or if the spacing is wonky, please let me know! I'll do what I can to adjust it.

I've been falling a bit behind on answering things and getting stuff done in general, I'm afraid. There is a pretty exciting reason, though - my city's con is going to be in a week or so, and I'll be running my first panel! And it's a topic that sporking has well-prepared me for - terrible fanfiction sex scenes! *cheers* I have chosen a number of scenes that I think are suitably shocking, while not so terrible that they'd send the readers running for the hills. Should be fun.

For those of you following along with the Ghost Trick Musical Project, we're about caught up with the beta recordings. We still need someone to sing for Dandy though, if there are any tenors interested in doing so for fun. We are in need of more composers interested in helping us get more of the songs finished, though, so if there are any music-makers in our midst, feel free to help out! After the con is over, I'm also going to get things moving for the auditions of non-singing parts and singing parts that are ready to go, so keep your eyes open on the site if you're interested in that!

Finally, I'm not sure how many folks here are also on [livejournal.com profile] das_sporking, but due to a recent temporary shutdown of the comm, all sporkings I'm doing over there will be on hiatus. I'm really sorry about this. The whole thing is incredibly disappointing and I'm very sorry it had to happen. To everyone worried that the comm will be deleted, however, rest assured that is not happening. Mervin is simply taking a leave to cool down. She, Ket, Gehayi, and I will be sitting down and figuring out what renovations are needed. Once that's taken care of, things should start moving again.

Everyone, thank you so much for your patience! Over here it's still full steam ahead with Crescendo, hopefully followed by Chosen (and boy howdy, does that need a sporking!) so hope you all hang around and have fun!
