Date: 2011-05-06 08:07 pm (UTC)By the way, are you a fan of manga or manhwa? I'm just curious.

Date: 2011-05-06 08:15 pm (UTC)And it depends on which ones. I'm a fan of Tarot Cafe (a manhwa) and a number of manga, with Fruits Basket and Sailor Moon being amongst my favorites. ^^ Others I don't like quite so much.

Date: 2011-05-06 08:19 pm (UTC)I've been looking for reviews of the graphic novel, and I really enjoy your recaps/reviews. (Although am terrible at commenting on them...)
Looking forward to reading this. :)
This is really the first graphic novel I've ever reviewed, so I hope it's enjoyable for everyone. ^^;

Date: 2015-01-09 12:58 am (UTC)While you certainly noted a lot of weird paneling choices, I think you could only guess at some of the weirdness in regards to the art. Because frankly, the art is not all that good, though I have yet to decide why.
What I would like to ask is if I could take these scans and redline them. This means that I draw over construction lines or make a comparison picture where I fix all the mistakes. I'll then post them with analysis at das-sporking as a suplement to your spork, maybe with some tips on how to analyse comic art. Of course, I would first need your permission :)
What do you think?

Date: 2015-01-09 03:13 am (UTC)I'll have to see about getting it posted at das_sporking, since this sporking was never posted over there (it was kept on my own LJ). I would love to include your analysis here at the Realm, though!
(I've been kicking around the idea of reposting this over at das_sporking though, and if I do I'll include your analysis as well, at that time.)
So yeah, the analysis is most welcome! :)

Date: 2015-01-09 03:18 am (UTC)I actually procured the two volumes from the internets, and I am sorta glad I did: the scan quality allowed me to see that yes, at least 70% of all backgrounds are filtered photos, as well as other details. I'll be able to pick out some juicy pictures.

Date: 2015-01-10 11:38 pm (UTC)Oh God, yeah! Those backgrounds. >_< That's just laziness, right there. Well, that and I'm not sure how experienced the artist was. Going off of their notes, I got the impression that this was their first BIG job, so Meyer was able to push them to overrule the editor on certain things.
