Wow, this should be interesting, especially considering that it's a different medium to critique. Good luck, Zelda Queen! :D

By the way, are you a fan of manga or manhwa? I'm just curious.

Thanks! ^_^

And it depends on which ones. I'm a fan of Tarot Cafe (a manhwa) and a number of manga, with Fruits Basket and Sailor Moon being amongst my favorites. ^^ Others I don't like quite so much.

Oh awesome!
I've been looking for reviews of the graphic novel, and I really enjoy your recaps/reviews. (Although am terrible at commenting on them...)
Looking forward to reading this. :)

Aw, thanks! XD

This is really the first graphic novel I've ever reviewed, so I hope it's enjoyable for everyone. ^^;

I've heard that the people in the graphic novel industry gave it horrible reviews and commented on the fact that it was a waste of the artists talent. The Twihards... they gushed over it and thought it was simply amazing. Looking foward to this.

Yeah, pretty telling. It follows the book to the letter, but makes a LOT of graphic novel errors.

When I was at a convention I saw it and started laughing to myself. It looked hideous in my opinion and the idea that it even existed was just - well funny in a twisted way...

Also working on anything Twilight is a waste of talent for ANYONE involved except Meyer herself.

Hi, I am a long time das-sporking lurker, and am very good at analysing art.

While you certainly noted a lot of weird paneling choices, I think you could only guess at some of the weirdness in regards to the art. Because frankly, the art is not all that good, though I have yet to decide why.

What I would like to ask is if I could take these scans and redline them. This means that I draw over construction lines or make a comparison picture where I fix all the mistakes. I'll then post them with analysis at das-sporking as a suplement to your spork, maybe with some tips on how to analyse comic art. Of course, I would first need your permission :)

What do you think?

I'd love that! I'm not an artist myself, so I'm sure I missed quite a bit of art!fail. Thank you!

I'll have to see about getting it posted at das_sporking, since this sporking was never posted over there (it was kept on my own LJ). I would love to include your analysis here at the Realm, though!

(I've been kicking around the idea of reposting this over at das_sporking though, and if I do I'll include your analysis as well, at that time.)

So yeah, the analysis is most welcome! :)

Ah, in that case, how about I just set up a google-doc with my analyses, and pm you the link? Then you can merge it together with your own stuff :)

I actually procured the two volumes from the internets, and I am sorta glad I did: the scan quality allowed me to see that yes, at least 70% of all backgrounds are filtered photos, as well as other details. I'll be able to pick out some juicy pictures.

That will be good. :) Just let me know when it's ready and I'll get it up there.

Oh God, yeah! Those backgrounds. >_< That's just laziness, right there. Well, that and I'm not sure how experienced the artist was. Going off of their notes, I got the impression that this was their first BIG job, so Meyer was able to push them to overrule the editor on certain things.
