ZeldaQueen: Well, ladies and gentlemen, it's time. With Marked having been slain, we must now venture forth into the vile wasteland that is Betrayed. And mother of God, is this a stinker! We get all of the same obnoxious characters, horrible behavior, dead herrings, and forgotten plot as before, and now with even more Mary Sue fanfiction cliches! So let's dive right on into Betrayed!

Projection Room Voices: Starting Media in 3...2...1...
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

ZeldaQueen: And...apparently the Suethors can't wait to actually start the acknowledgments before giving us this

We would like to dedicate this book to (Aunty) Sherry Rowland, friend and publicist. Thank you, Sher, for taking care of us. Even when we're high maintenance and annoying (and especially when you give us "treaties"). We heart you very much.

ZeldaQueen: "Treaties"? "Aunty"? What? And please tell me I'm not the only one getting annoyed their their insistance of using the "we heart you" phrase in all of their author notes

Acknowledgments

As usual, we want to thank Dick L. Cast,

ZeldaQueen: - the unfortunately named

Dad/Grandpa, for knowing everything biological

ZeldaQueen: *cough*bullshit*cough*

and helping us with stuff.

Thank you to our amazing agent, Meredith Bernstein, who came up with the fabulous idea that began this series.

ZeldaQueen: A fabulous idea which basically badly cribs from Twilight and Harry Potter

We would like to thank our St. Martin's team, Jennifer Weis and Stefanie Lindskog, for helping us create such a wonderful series.

ZeldaQueen: Blu wat?

In particular a big WE HEART YOU

ZeldaQueen: As opposed to a small “we heart you”

to the talented artists who designed such beautiful covers.

ZeldaQueen: …Dude, not to knock on their talents, but it’s not that hugely impressive. The covers are all one picture with the title superimposed over. A lot of people on the internet do things like that for personal amusement

And we'd like to note a special acknowledgment to Street Cats, a cat rescue and adoption service in Tulsa. We support Street Cats (and actually adopted Nala from them!) and appreciate their dedication to and love for cats. Please visit their Web site at www.streetcatstulsa.org for more information. If you're interested in giving to a pet rescue charity we promise that they are an excellent choice!

ZeldaQueen: This actually is relevant to the story, believe it or not. Very loosely, very badly relevant, but relevant nonetheless

—P. C. & KRISTIN

ZeldaQueen: - who really need some writing lessons

I would like to send thanks out to my high school students who 1) beg to be put in these books and then killed off,

ZeldaQueen: OH MY GOD, I’M GETTING ARIANNA BLACK FLASHBACKS!!!

2) provide constant comedic fodder for me,

ZeldaQueen: (Cast ladies) “Dance, my little monkeys! Dance for my amusement! Ha ha ha!”

3) and will actually leave me alone sometimes so I can write.

ZeldaQueen: “I mean, gawd, why do you peons keep fawning over me? Get out of my godly presence once in a while, why don’t you?”

NOW GO DO YOUR HOMEWORK. Oh, and expect a quiz.

ZeldaQueen: How charming

— MISS CAST

ZeldaQueen: Blu what? Was that message from Kristen. Kristen is teaching high school students? I don’t even…

What the hell? What ever happened to nice, adult, professional acknowledgements who thanked family, the agent, the publisher, the fans, and maybe a couple of friends?

...Fuck you, Meyer. You started this stupid trend of childish acknowledgements.

Speaking of the Devil, I heard rumblings that she is going to write a spin-off with Jacob and the Death Baby. Take it as you will but I won't be surprised if we see it. It WILL be Twilight-related so there might be some truth to it.

"Speaking of the Devil, I heard rumblings that she is going to write a spin-off with Jacob and the Death Baby. Take it as you will but I won't be surprised if we see it."

...I feel the urge to hide under my bed now. The only comfort is that Meyer is unable to actually finish anything she promises her fans.

And yes, these author's notes are just annoying. I don't even mind if they're casual, but I draw the line at continuous chatspeak.

I second hiding under the bed. I hope she doesn't finish it. Call me morbid, but I do wonder what the hell she has been doing since Bree Tanner because I doubt it's been writing anything she said she would.

Hey, I thought you were going to start Betrayed after the City of Bones group recap? What happened to that?

What scares me is how Meyer continuously manages to make each of her works even more unintentionally frightening and squicky than the last. Twilight to New Moon to Eclipse to Breaking Dawn to Bree Tanner to the official guide, and now this. A relationship where, as Mervin pointed out, the baby wanted Jacob *the instant she left the womb*

Oh, I decided to do both at the same time. City of Bones is still going on, but I still need more recaps before I can start and I figured I might as well. I'm hoping to get CoB started up soon. That thing can't be sporked enough, and there's still the sequels. Oh, did you know that Cassandra Clare is writing several more sequels for the series? The fourth book, City of Fallen Angels, is coming out soon, apparently.

I just wonder how much of the spin off she can write without Bella and Edward in it. Then again, she did write Bree Tanner. Maybe it will be another novella.

I heard about the other books. I think there is a prequel trilogy, the main trilogy, and I guess what is suppose to be the 'sequel' trilogy. By the way the publishing dates on her site looks, she is writing the prequel trilogy and the 'sequel' trilogy at the same time. Still, way too many book for so little plot. I don't even know how HoN is pulled into 8 books, the main conflict is so thin!

She'll probably either make Nessie and Jacob into Bella and Edward 2.0, or shoehorn Bella and Edward into the plot some other way.

I know what you mean. And HoN is into eight books because the Suethors fill most of the books with fluff and have the characters continually forget or ignore the Bad Stuff that is clearly happening. Just wait for the climax of Betrayed. -_- There aren't enough walls to bang one's head against.

Well, if she does write the story and it does get published, I can imagine that it will serve to help end the Twilight series as there will be an uproar about the content, particularly in schools.

I actually know someone who likes Cassandra Clare's work and doesn't get why her having plagerized is a big deal. I've seen the first chapter at least sporked and I found myself... displeased greatly.

I like to pretend that the real reason she hasn't published anything more for Twilight or that other series is because the people know that they've milked the cow and if she publishes any more, she'll only ruin their chances of making money off the stuff they are already selling. Though... that also may be it. Each time she's published something her credibility has so gone down.

Wow, could these women be anymore unprofessional? If I didn't know better, I'd think these acknowledgments were written by a twelve-year-old. And I shudder at the thought of Kristen Cast teaching, I really do.

I'm really looking forward to this sporking. After the first one, I have a morbid curiosity about this series, I guess. I feel like the first one will be hard to top in terms of badness, but at the same time, I get the feeling that this book will manage it somehow. Good luck to you!

She's supposed to be a teacher? I wouldn't want her teaching my kids, or any of the kiddos I know or any of the kids I hope to eventually teach, since I think I'd be undoing the damage she's done.

I've looked at the whole plot for the series. It is one of the most blatant Sues I've seen.

I've had some pretty bad English teachers myself, but none of them were ever nearly that dippy or unprofessional. I mean, my God. I hope the school board or a parent union or something takes action before she can do too much damage.

I am wanting to go into teaching myself and I personally wish that they would realize that they need to can this lady. However, this is the exact reason why people are questioning how tenure in public schools curently works and whether it should be revamped. Even if she hasn't taught long, the fact that she's written a book may give her tenure she doesn't deserve.

BI I dunno, if I taught a class, I wouldn't put my students in my books so I could kill them off even if they asked me to. No, if I put them in at all, they'd be a background-character who probably has a normal life and does NOT get horribly killed in the middle of class because they're bleeding from every orif--

...a thought just struck me.

Elliot died in class. Elliot was just sitting at his desk and suddenly started bleeding and panicking and crying.
DID THAT HAPPEN TO A STUDENT OF MRS. CAST'S?! I mean, not DYING, but say, a student of hers got a nose-bleed and started to panic because wtf nosebleed and it was a severe one, and did Cast just go "OH HEY, I CAN KILL OFF A CHARACTER JUST LIKE THIS."
GOD that's creepy.

I don't know if Elliot was one of the people they used real-life people as inspiration for. Apparently they did take the name "Maslin" for Damien from one of the people thanked in Marked acknowlgements. No idea for Elliot, though.

NO. YOU ARE JUST ANNOYING.

I just wish authors would respect YA readers and not feel the need to step down to a lower level. The Casts seem to me like a perfect example of this dumbing-down.

It's quite all right. It's just something I noticed and wondered about, so I clicked around in a few places and found she was a single mom who went by her maiden name. So "Miss Cast" is PC, not Kristen, who's a communications major, I think.

That dad can come live here in the Netherlands. Dick is a quite common name here (and doesn't mean what it means in English ofcourse, other language and all). He can join my dad, who's also called Dick.

Now to be relevant, am I the only one here who gets annoyed at the childishness of these ladies concerning their use of language in these acknowledgements? God, they sound like children with their "WE HEART YOU". But you already touched that :P

I know I'm late, but I still want to thank you for this. It sums up my reaction while reading these books, so thank you!

It's easy to see where Zoey gets her "Smells like teen spirit! 8D" lingo from, huh?

You're welcome! ^^ Hope you continue to enjoy the sporkings. :) Believe me when I tell you that this all only gets dumer.
