Might I say, I would never have been interested in someone like Edward even as a preteen? Then again, I saw family friends who went through abusive relationships, so I knew first hand, none of them were romantic.

Even if he weren't abusive, I'd still hate to be with a guy like that. There's no way I could handle someone who spied on me 24/7 and couldn't leave me alone for two minutes (really, in Breaking Dawn, Bella asks Edward for seven minutes alone in the house. He gives her two). That just ain't healthy.
