  • Name: Bella Swan
  • Aliases: Isabella, lamb, Bells, Bella Cullen (Breaking Dawn)
  • Age: 17 in Twilight, 18 in New Moon, arguably 19 midway through Breaking Dawn
  • Author: Stephanie Meyer
  • Origin: Product of a tamely erotic dream the author had (dream content eventually became chapter thirteen)
  • Literary Work(s): The Twilight Saga (Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse, Breaking Dawn, Midnight Sun)
  • Hair Color: Brown
  • Eye Color: Chocolate Brown
  • Additional Physical Descriptions: "very fair-skinned, with long, straight, dark brown hair and chocolate brown eyes. Her face is heart-shaped—a wide forehead with a widow's peak, large, wide-spaced eyes, prominent cheekbones, and then a thin nose and a narrow jaw with a pointed chin. Her lips are a little out of proportion, a bit too full for her jaw line. Her eyebrows are darker than her hair and more straight than they are arched. She's five foot four inches tall, slender but not at all muscular, and weighs about 115 pounds. She has stubby fingernails because she has a nervous habit of biting them". As a scar on her hand after she is bitten in Twilight. Becomes even paler and more attractive with red eyes after her transformation in Breaking Dawn.
  • Defining Characteristics or Powers: Has a very "private mind", and is thus the only person Edward Cullen cannot mind read. Is apparently unique in her ability to smell blood. Extraordinarily clumsy (lost upon transformation into vampire). Is said to be unusually graceful, strong, and controlled for a newborn when transformed in Breaking Dawn into a vampire. As a vampire, she also has a mental shield power.
  • Nonhuman Companions: Prefers the company of vampires and werewolves over humans.
  • Character Affiliations: Dated Edward Cullen from Twilight to New Moon, married him in Breaking Dawn. Is the mother of Renesmee Cullen. Daughter of Charlie Swan and Renee Swan/Dwyer. Stepdaughter of Phil Dwyer. Daughter-in-law of Carlisle and Esme Cullen. Sister-in-law of Alice and Jasper Cullen and Rosalie and Emmett Hale. Friend and alleged love interest of Jacob Black. Maintains a shaky friendship with the other pack members, most prominent in New Moon. Claims friendship with fellow high school students Jessica Stanley and Angela Weber. Is the object of Mike Newton, Eric Yorkie, and Tyler Crowley's affections.
  • Notes: Sue-ness is more noticeable and is only just safe enough for it to be recognized and applied as a guilty pleasure. While eventual extermination is recommended, immediate action is not necessary until the transformation in Breaking Dawn.

My question has always been, how is Bella really a relatable person. I can relate to being the girl who tried to be nice to her, only to have her treat me with disgust because I wasn't her perfect ideal, or to have her bully me. When I read her, wether in the little I read, or the sporks, that's the kind of girl I see.

Agreed. She's a doll who serves as wish fulfillment.

That's why I like Harry Potter better, incidentally. Yes, there's some wish fulfillment, but it's still pretty easy to relate to things like trying to get dates for a dance, freaking out over finals, etc.

And it was realistically done at that. There is good wish fullfillment and bad.

Raetekusu here. I wouldn't even say there's good or bad wish fulfillment. There's just wish-fulfillment, which is probably one of the reasons we write in the first place, but whether it is done in a way to please oneself and oneself only or oneself and the target audience is the author's decision.

By the way, ZQ, I finished my "The Sues" page, and I encourage you to take a look. I referenced your entry of "Entitlement Sue" from your spork of My Inner Life. Hope you don't mind.

I know, I saw that! That was awesome! XD Go ahead and use it, I don't mind a bit. :) And by the way, I loved your description of it, "It's mine I tell you, all mine". Perfect definition for it! XD
