Hush, Hush: Acknowledgements
Nov. 14th, 2011 12:33 amZeldaQueen: Well, no wank fantasy is complete without the Suethor thanking her adoring public, so let's get to sporking that!

Thanks to Caleb Warnock and my fellow writers at Writing in Depth; I couldn't have asked for truer friends to make this journey.
ZeldaQueen: God. Now I feel like we're going to break out in some song, like it's Winnie-the-Pooh
A shout-out to Laura Andersen, Ginger Churchill, and Patty Esden, who never let me quit and who were honest (even when I didn't want it).
ZeldaQueen: First of all, am I alone in thinking that parenthesis was unnecessary?
Second of all, if you appreciate honesty so much, just read these sporkings. I bet you'll love the honesty in them
Special thanks to Eric James Stone for tying the ribbon on the
ZeldaQueen: Old oak tree?
package.
ZeldaQueen: That's what she said! *immature snickering*
I owe Katie Jeppson, Ali Eisenach, Kylie Wright, Megan and Josh Walsh, Lindsey Leavitt, and Riley and Jace Fitzpatrick
ZeldaQueen: ...
I sincerely hope it's coincidence that that last guy shares the same name as Cassandra Clare's brat of a Gary Stu
thanks, too, for everything from babysitting, to information on surgical procedures, to communal brainstorming, to undeserved patience.
ZeldaQueen: I'd congratulate them on their patience as well. I lost mine for this tripe long ago. And what information on surgical procedures did you need? This isn't Black Jack and you hardly go into any detail to show off knowledge of anything!
It has been sheer fun working with Emily Meehan, my savvy editor,
ZeldaQueen: Who apparently is not savvy enough to make you realize how horrible Patch is, Fitzpatrick.
Actually, that's not true. From what I understand, Patch was even worse before the editing process. Just chew on that thought, ladies and gentlemen
and my many friends at Simon and Schuster BFYR who've cheered me on and worked behind the scenes to make this all happen-Justin Chanda, Anne Zafian, Courtney Bongiolatti, Dorothy Gribbin,
ZeldaQueen: - Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen...
Chava Wolin, Lucy Ruth Cummins, Lucille Rettino, Elke Villa, Chrissy Noh, Julia Maguire, and Anna McKean. Thank you!
I'm especially thankful that Catherine Drayton came into my life at just the right time.
ZeldaQueen: ...Please tell me it's not just my filthy mind that thinks that sentence has romantic implications
Thanks for helping me make it this far. I'll never forget the phone call when I learned my book had been sold...
ZeldaQueen: Indeed, it was a dark moment for the world of literature
Thanks to James Porto for a cover that blew away my expectations.
ZeldaQueen: It really is a beautiful cover, and I'm not being a smartass here. In fact, pretty much everyone has agreed that the cover is really nice, even those that hate the book. It's a sad state of affairs when the book's cover gets a better rating than the content
I owe my copy editor, Valerie Shea, a big thank-you as well.
ZeldaQueen: That's "thank-you" with a hyphen, mind. Those are special
Most of all, thanks to my mom. For everything. XOXO.
ZeldaQueen: I can only hope her mother was more attentive to her than Nora's mother is to our lovely heroine here...

Date: 2011-11-14 06:03 am (UTC)Well, I have a comment about the cover. It WAS pretty, though when I first saw it I thought it was a guy being thrown UP into the air (which weren't exactly wrong since they had the model jump up using a trampoline to make the pose in the cover, but that's beside the point). I thought maybe the winged being was stupid enough to get caught up in a cyclone and ruined his wings or something. You know, since most "falling-to-death" scenes usually depict the person as falling head first.
Oh well.
I've heard this being mentioned many times over, but I really shudder to think what Patch was like BEFORE editing. A guy from a rape porn?

I'm so sorry I couldn't resist(no subject)

Date: 2011-11-15 01:10 am (UTC)Jace is a real name? *is ashamed* To everyone who's named Jace, I am so sorry. I repeatedly ranted about how stupid the name was in my sporkings and comments on "City of Bones." I really had no idea that anyone other than Cassandra Clare's despicable creation had that name. My apologies.
/From what I understand, Patch was even worse before the editing process./
Now I pity Emily Meehan. I hope that she didn't have nightmares while reading the original draft.
/It really is a beautiful cover, and I'm not being a smartass here. In fact, pretty much everyone has agreed that the cover is really nice, even those that hate the book./
Yes, I agree that the cover is cool and eye-catching. A pity that the actual book didn't live up to to the cover's expectations. Kind of like "Twilight" and its cover, huh?

Date: 2011-11-15 01:35 am (UTC)(Bit of mind-damaging information I discovered - apparently the Mundie Mom's site - the Mortal Instrument equivalent of Twimoms - has a lot of fans who also drool over Patch. Make of that what you will)
And yes, I feel very sorry for Emily Meehan. I also don't envy her having to point out to Fitzpatrick, who apparently doesn't grasp the concept of "dangerous, creepy stalker", how messed-up her creation is.

Date: 2011-12-15 04:49 am (UTC)How ironic that the group is called Writing in Depth, something many a Suethor fails at epically :P
It has been sheer fun working with Emily Meehan, my savvy editor,
BURN HER!!!! :P
I'm especially thankful that Catherine Drayton came into my life at just the right time.
That's so adorable, she thanked her life partner And yet I fail to see any mention of Mr Fitzpatrick⦠Or does she go by her maiden name or something, I'm confused :S
I'm so sick of all these damn Suethors who try and sound all 'young and hip' and speak in all these childish terms in their Acknowledgements pages! God, just like SMeyer and Cassandra Clare, grow up! Actually have some decorum and act your age when thanking people, especially when the people you work with have to be around your age, Fitzpatrick! >.<

Date: 2011-12-16 03:29 am (UTC)I know, right?
"BURN HER!!!! :P"
No, she did manage to get Fitzpatrick to soften Patch somewhat. That's more than Meyer's editor managed
Fitzpatrick has a husband named Justin. Actually, on her website she says she has only one son, so I think "Jace" up there is her nickname for her husband.
