But back on topic, I loved the rant, because it pretty much covered everything disturbing about this: counterarguments and everything.

And the "Okie" thing or whatever it was? Why do they think that's appropriate? Is it common in the surrounding states, like we make fun of the next and only town over when we are in ELEMENTARY SCHOOL! They get the county fair and we're the county seat, but we still manage to grow out of it before the sixth grade. (But then again, I'm in CA, in the only county that doesn't require biannual smog checks, maybe it's more of a concern to make fun of your neighbors when you have more than 2. Idk).

Finally: "You know how it feels right before a tornado hits? I mean when the sky's still clear, but the wind's starting to cool off and change direction. You know something's coming, but you don't always know what. That's how things feel to me right now.”

Has Zoey been through a tornado too? And even so, why'd she have to describe it? Wouldn't the first sentence have been enough, given that I don't imagine it's a particularly forgettable experience.
