Oh, by the way, can I say my new 'fan' theory of the story? Here goes... Davy Jones and Calypso were very much in love. However, a siren became jealous of Calypso's power and beauty and wanted to spite her (this particular siren is not that smart), so she followed Davy Jones' boat and cast a spell on him to make him fall in love with her and reject Calypso. She disguised herself as a human and called herself "Sirena" (this particular siren is also not very imaginative). To cement the spell, she then had a son by Jones on land, so Calypso couldn't do anything (as she is more or less powerless on land). However, the spell could not completley remove Jones' love for the sea, so when the child was large enough, they went sailing again. The siren had become cocky in her victory, and so forgot that Calypso would be angry, not heartbroken and miserable as she had expected. A few days into the voyage, Calypso found them again and lured the child to the side of the ship, where his mother found him talking to a crab. Calypso revealed herself and, to punish the siren, offered her the chioce to either throw the child overboard to drown or be turned into an anenome. The siren immediatley threw her son into the sea, where (unbenownst to her) he turned into a dolphin. Marginally satisfied, Calypso returned to the sea to wait for the fallout. But she didn't get it, because when the siren returned to the cabin, she acidentally dropped a loaded pistol that she had been messing around with and was shot in the stomach (I told you this particular siren was not very bright). When Jones' saw this, he immediatley believed that Calypso had killed his wife and bound her in human form as revenge. There. I still like the canon better though.
