Are they going to mention that Damien is gay and Shaunee is black every time we see them? Cause that's edging into Royal Tenenbaum "my adopted daughter Margot" territory. Except it was a joke there.
Also, re: the chariot. Perhaps they confused or tried to meld Nyx with Selene, who does ride a chariot. She was a Titan, not an Olympian, but she carried the moon across the sky each night (and had an emo romance with a mortal).
And you're right - having the Fates as the symbol for the last year is twisted, especially since we're told it's a real possibility that these kids could die. Why not have something like Eos, the dawn, which could just as easily symbolize and end of Night without being as overtly "and also possible DEATH"?
