I think the author mixed up wish fulfillment with empowerment. In fact, I think that's one of the reasons why badly done self insert Sues are so hated - they're so blatantly supposed to be what the author wants.
And as for the parts I snipped out, the first part was her describing female characters in TV that she liked and thought were empowered and going on about how terrible it would be to call them Sues, hence my opening statement about how there probably *are* people who think they're Sues. The second part was the author criticizing metafandom and gehyi, and I just didn't have anything specific to say about that.
