I know! This is exactly like My Inner Life. If the author didn't favor the protagonists, they'd all be dead in ten seconds flat. I'm sure the only reason Meyer lets them die at the end is because Eclipse said they would.
I have no idea how this all slips by her. If she were at all subtle, I might think that it was her being sneaky and clever. But she's not, s I don't.
