Oh no, movie!James actually is a *classy* mustache-twirling villain. Those are a different breed than the generic, cheesy kind. (also included in that group are movie!Volturi and possibly Nero from Star Trek). The main difference is that, as you said, classy mustache-twirlers really enjoy hamming it up and are delicious for it (in many different ways, as that picture shows ^^).
