*raises hand* From what I gather, while the early concept of a thong has been around since the beginning of clothing, the idea of a woman wearing a thong is actually insanely recent, like in the last century recent. In Celtic proto-England/Wales based in thousands of years ago? It would be the men wearing the thong, since they were originally designed to keep their dangly bits from...dangling painfully whole running or working or whatever. Rhiannon/Shannon probably would have actually gone commando, if she couldn't wear heavy pantaloons for whatever reason.
Also, I keep getting this vibe Pantaolon is sort of like England and Wales which is why I ask: Why the hell are all the handmaidens wearing wispy clothing? Why is Rhiannon/Shannon wearing a sheer sari/toga thing? England is fucking cold! There is a reason people way back when wore tons of very heavy layers, it was so they didn't catch pneumonia in their drafty as hell castles and temples/churches. It wasn't because they were prudes, it was because it was hellish cold and they would have died if they didn't cover themselves up(And then later it was because they were prudes). I mean, I'm only speculating because I have no idea how the climate is. They wear clothes designed for hotter climates yet Shannon describes everything as distinctly Celtic or coming from the high medieval era, which had known colder weather. I'm so confused.
I probably would have forgiven Shannon and Rhiannon having opposite personalities. You know, Dimension X 'Everything is Opposite' idea, as cliched as it is. But, you know, they don't seem to have opposite personalities (based on what Alanna tells us about Rhiannon, but I don't trust her credibility) so I have no idea what is going on.
