So Cast is obviously going off of how Epona was adopted by the Romans, but she seems to forget quite a bit. Epona was originally combined with Cybele, a harvest goddess, and later became the protector of the Calvary. She wasn't this all knowing super gentle, women are awesome goddess. She was a warrior.
Also, the whole "the ClanFintan" thing is based on calling the leader of a clan "the (insert clan name here" like "the Mackenzie" in Outlander. But you drop the clan part, he knows what clan he is, he doesn't need to be reminded.
And from what I gather, there were some priests in the ancient world who did live in complexes by their temples, but not actually in the temple. The most famous would be the Vestal Virgins, who were housed separately from the public so that they would, you know, remain virgins. One of their duties was drawing water from a spring sacred to Vesta, not using it as a jacuzzi because Vesta would fry their ass in a second for such blatant sacrilege.
