“not exciting like facing the principal after he has just heard from a parent who is upset about me calling Guinevere a slut”
Okay, I love the Arthurian mythos. I love how that story, and all the associated stories, can and have been reinterpreted over the generations. Yes, I have my preferred versions (the short-lived Starz series Camelot, the Hallmark Entertainment mini-series Merlin, and the John Boorman film Excalibur to name a few), and ones I don't (Le Morte de Arthur, Jack Whyte's Camulod series, and the terrible film King Arthur). But one thing I'm fairly certain of is that in no version of the story is Guinevere a "slut". At worst, she gets involved in an affair with the man who is her husband's best friend. And yes, this is a questionable decision, but labeling her a slut for it? Yeah, go screw yourself.
(Also, apart from a version of The Lady of Shalott, I never read anything related to King Arthur in high school)
In it, the Mary Sue protagonist is sent back in time to seduce Lancelot away from Guinevere to save Camelot from falling, but instead falls in love with Arthur and becomes his True Love (And is able to make Mordred be a good guy with a stern talking to, but we'll discuss that when we get there).
Come again? Because the idea that Arthur and Guinevere actually love each other is just so terrible. And while Lancelot and Guinevere's affair does eventually lead to Camelot's downfall, what about the bit where Lancelot kills Gareth and Gaheris? Which in turn leads to their brothers Gawain, Agravain, and Morderd to seek justice?
