The back-story for the Muggles really seems like it belongs to another book. When the reader reaches the end of the prologue and continues onto the rest of the story, the shift in tone, the shift in subject, and the shift in writing style is all just really jarring. We’re supposed to believe that a story that features a place called Lemonade Lake and talking ocean animals also contains a screed against the UN and nuclear warfare? How on earth does that make sense?
