Updates From The Realm: A Few Things
Dec. 16th, 2011 01:13 amHello everyone, just a brief update on what all's going on.
First of all, I apologize for the stretch of time with no sporkings. I just had a fine time with our friend Mr. Finals Week, and only now am I free of his nefarious clutches.
Second of all, I'm pushing through to get Betrayed done as quickly as possible. For pacing reasons, I will not be moving on to Chosen immediately after. Instead, I will work on Crescendo first and then take on Chosen.
Third of all, as you guys might recall, The Lusty Wench and I finally got our first video review for Medieval-Pirate reviews up! Unfortunately, due to my lack of foresight, there was a problem with VEOH not wanting to show people more than a snippet of the review. I have switched to a different video host, which I hope will let everyone just watch the thing without having to jump through hoops. For those of you who want to check out the review under the new video host, or for anyone who just missed the review the first time around, you can watch it here.
Fourth, I have somehow found myself roped into the fandoms of both Avatar: The Last Airbender and Axis Powers Hetalia. This may or may not affect future choices for sporking material. (Oh God, the shipping...)
Finally, we are getting towards the end of the City of Bones group sporking, and a few people have wondered about whether or not the other books in the series will be getting the same treatment. The answer is yes, we will at least be going for a group sporking of City of Ashes. I will release more information about the arrangements for this when we get a bit closer to the end of the City of Bones sporking on
das_sporking.
And...I do believe that's all for now. I hope the holiday season and life in general is going well for everyone. Peace!

Date: 2011-12-17 01:33 am (UTC)Yay, two fandoms that I enjoy! :D
As for the shipping, two things. One, I don’t ship anybody in Hetalia because the main thing about the series that appeals to me is the comical spoof of world history (I’m a history nerd ^^). Two, I will admit that I am a fan of Zutara, but 1) I *don’t* hate Mai, I think her character design is awesome and she has a nice voice, and 2) I know that some Zutara fans are insane and should be condemned as such.
Yay for the upcoming "City of Ashes" sporking! I’m still enjoying the “City of Bones” sporking that we’ve got going on, but I’m looking forward to the deconstruction of the other books as well.
Good luck with “Crescendo!”

Date: 2011-12-17 04:11 am (UTC)XD Thanks. I actually have not seen Legend of Korra yet (I'm still working my way through a few more of the episodes of the original series), but I'm looking forward to it.

Date: 2011-12-17 04:13 am (UTC)*hugs back* Well, they're over now, so there's that. ^^ And thanks! I hope I've pulled some stuff that's enjoyable!

Date: 2011-12-17 04:18 am (UTC)Same. XD I just love the funniness. I'm not a huge yaoi fan, really. (I don't have anything against yaoi, per say, it's just not my thing ^^; ) The Lusty Wench is a huge yaoi fangirl though, so she might dive into the fandom for that reason alone.

Yeah, I ship canon for Avatar, but I don't *mind* ships like Zutara as long as it's not crazy-like. It seems like the Harmony ship of the fandom, really.
And word on Mai, that girl is badass! Anyone who stands up to Azula is fantastic! Of course, Ty Lee is equally awesome because she prevented Azula from retaliating against Mai, which is kind of like sticking one's hand in a hungry lion's cage, so go her as well! XD

Date: 2011-12-17 05:08 am (UTC)I must say I am surprised that I know so many people who love Avatar. I tried watching it, but had to give up when they added a wheelchair kid for one of their "after school special" episodes. Could not take anything seriously after that.

Date: 2011-12-17 05:47 am (UTC)Well, I personally just like stuff like the characters, the way the bending is handled (especially how innovative they often have to get, like when Katara learns how to move plants by bending the water in them), the world-building, and that sort of thing. I also liked how in the last season, when the group is hiding out in the Fire Nation, we see that the people there aren't all totally evil, but generally are just regular people going about their business.

Date: 2011-12-17 01:14 pm (UTC)That's definitely good. :)
And you're welcome! :D *Eagerly awaits* ^^

Date: 2011-12-17 10:37 pm (UTC)Particularly since I wanted a Katara action figure when I was ten. I'm still bitter that one doesn't exist from the cartoon.
