Unlike Rowling, I actually wouldn't be surprised if that was true that Meyer did that. I could see Meyer doing that because she doesn't understand what 'sentiment' means.
I mean, normally, I don't like celebrities who treat their fans like dirt, but I also understand there are just times where they are tired and cranky (everyone has their moment) and having someone go up to you and go 'OMG IT'S J.K ROWLING!' would be epically annoying. Rowling is notoriously private. People should cut her some slack.
