I've vomited out of fear or nerves before, but it wasn't like BOOM!-vomit, it just built up over time; I felt queasy and nervous, and then vomited a few hours later. :/ I dunno if it really DOES happen as fast as Zoey did it.
I do so love how she doesn't particularly do anything when the other guys are going missing, but everything matters now that it's her boyfriend. Not to mention a guy that she might not even like anymore...
Once again, I love Aphrodite. No, seriously, she's the most sane and realistic person in the whole damn series so far. Aprodite, get out of this awful series and hang out with me. I love you, chica.
On the subject of Venus, dear God, you're right. That little backstory, that one paragraph, has managed to instill more sympathy in me than the pages and pages of attention any of the main cast has ever got.
I could see them encouraging a fledgling to stay away from human boyfriends or girlfriends until rules about imprinting and blood drinking are laid down, but forbidding it entirely? One could also take the tragic route: In the distant past, a fledgling lost control of themselves and killed/drained their human friends and family and so told all other fledglings to stay far away from their human friends as a result of their grief and guilt. Or maybe several vampires made it a rule so that no fledgling or vampire would be made to watch their friends and family get older and die while they stayed the same. You could make it so it was to protect the lives of the humans and the emotional well-being of the vampire (though in a twisted way). Of course, I highly doubt this is the case...man, I'm coming up with better reasons for some of these stupid rules, and I fail at writing!
...Zoey talks about an evil thing Neferet did...while she's right there... In any sane universe, Neferet would leap forward and kill her instantly for it, then off the witnesses. Zoey's lucky that she's in the story she is.
