My school had the occasional safety drill post-Columbine, and I was once called in for counseling after joking about a "death list" (my lack of social-scene reading abilities at work...), but otherwise we weren't quite that protective.
But call in a bomb threat and I'm pretty sure they would have hung you by your feet from the rafters before the day was over.
And I really hope that in real life, Nora would have taken Patch's genitals with a hunting knife to protect the rest of the world by this point.
