Yes, it's definitely public knowledge that the various actors and whosits are vampires. In the first book, Zoey can already name some when she's Turned and mentions that the People of Faith specifically use their "decadant" movie-star lives as proof that the vampires are sinful and Hellbound.
This, incidentally, will make up the bulk of my ranting for the next chapter.
