Depends on the game! :D In Mario Party, I tend to favor Yoshi and Peach, and occasionally Daisy in the later games. In Super Smash Brothers, my favorites were Pikachu and Kirby, with the occasional use of Captain Falcon. In SSB: Melee, I really favored Sheik/Zelda (mostly as Sheik though). And in Brawl, I would go between Meta Knight, Sheik/Zelda (I used Zelda more in that game), Ness/Lucas, Kirby, and Pikachu.

O_o You know, you're right. There's a few similarities there, especially if you're supposed to buy the idea that Calypso = Gaston, seeing as both are obstacles in their relationship and the death of both leads to the death of the "beast". I doubt it was intentional though. Given how ham-fisted Gethesemane is, I'm sure it would be way over-the-top and obvious if it was on purpose.
