I don't know what the case was with Sybil. I think the idea was supposed to be like Romeo and Juliet - that she threw herself into a relationship with Dorian too quickly and was so obsessed with him that when they have their first argument, she just goes off and kills herself instead of at least waiting until he calmed down to see if he regretted his words.
