Well apparently the dude shows up later as one of Zoey's paramours and the girl shows up as an ally/Scary Sue, so they do play more into the story.
Yes, my desire to smack Zoey really is growing by the chapter. Unless there is one HELL of a lot of character development, this is going south.
Actually, next chapter sort of does go South. Um, yeah.
