The Cherokee part is sort of importent to the plot - I say sort of because you'll have to wait more than one book to get an explanation. The only thing I liked about this book was the vampyre (Why the y?) history the authors made up but it does have holes. Filled with bullshit. If you want me to tell you why her being Cherokee matters then just comment back and I will.
