This person was almost making a point until they boiled down PPC into "bullying teens, tweens, young women, and older women" because wut.

No. They go about letting off steam about people who write Mary Sues. I know that some MSTers (or sporkers) will snipe at the author as they go along, but it's usually considered to be in poor taste; the focus is on the story and the characters (unless the author inserts their notes and asides, in which case, well, fair game to address what they said).

The point kind of degenerated from there until the point basically comes down to "We're allowed to write whatever the hell we want and you guys are allowed to SHUT UP." Nice way to alienate everybody who just wants to do their own thing.

I get the point of the essay, but seriously, if you can't stomach your characters being called out as Mary Sues, then you won't be able to stomach people picking apart real writing. We all fear criticism in one way or another, or to stop outright because somebody says "This character is a Sue", well, I'm sorry to hear that, but seriously?

And calling it misogyny? That's just... silly.
