Huh, really? I guess I've always heard it translated wrong, then.

I still get the feeling that the Suethor thought that Spanish and Italian were the same language, though--or as close as makes no never mind.

Still, amorcita is wrong in Spanish. It's amorcito for both genders and I have only heard it in Mexico (and just a couple of times). The more common expression is "mi amor" or something like "cariƱo"

Yeah, in Italian it would be something similar--"mi amore" for either sex (if the person was being very dramatic, or if you were listening to Italian songs) or, more likely, "cara" (for a woman). "Caro" is not something I ever heard a woman call a man.

(As you can tell, I've now gotten away from looking Italian up on the Internet to what I remember my adopted grandmother and her relatives actually saying in real life. My Italian sucketh mightily--I can only recall a few words--but I remember some connotations and bits of usage.)
