Manipulative!Dumbledore plots rarely have any point, I've noticed. They tend to read like those incredibly convoluted Illuminati Everyone-I-Don't-Like-Secretly-Runs-The-World plots thrown around, where there seems to be no actual end goal besides general Evulz and the perpetrator(s) have enough power and influence to pull it off that one really has to wonder why they're bothering to begin with.
