About the rebirth thing, I have a theory that it's the same Ganon/Ganondorf, but the Zeldas, Links, and Impas are different people. Zelda and Impa get the same name because it's traditional (it seems that the Shekiah are always the Royal Family bodyguards, and they probably would groom Impa from birth to take care of the princess). As for Link, it's just fate that the kid who'd save the land happens to be named that.
