I think it's less that Link's Queen doesn't think women can rule alone and more that she wants an excuse to be queen of Hyrule. I can only thank whatever deity is in the sky that the fic ends before that potentially happens.

For the exact same reason Meyer only had Edward visit Alaska for a chapter or so - she's too dumb to know how to write anything that doesn't involve staring in Link's dreamy eyes and nibbling his sexy ears.
