I can understand her being nervous, but they could try and put a new spin on it, at least. Like where she finally gets over that nervousness and, even if they aren't romantically involved, might become good friends. Like I did. I have a feeling this is aimed at teens, and it would really help if you consider your audience lives in the real world and not a sappy high school drama.
