Sorts of reminds me of how some Doctor Who fans were complaining about an episode that hinted that the Master would beat his wife, saying he wouldn't do that.

Because a guy who has no problem with murdering innocent people in cold blood over and over again, has repeatedly tried to destroy the Earth, has deliberately started wars and committed genocide is such a nice guy who would never do something as nasty as being his wife, right?
