I'm mostly going to be addressing her from the first movie, because I saw that the most. I only saw the sequel once, and never saw the third one at all. ^^;

.) Selene is very determined to uncover conspiracies and to expose the truth. Throughout all of the first movie, no matter what anyone says to her, she does what she has to to get the truth out. She doesn't care if she looks crazy, she doesn't care if she's threatened, she doesn't care if she has to work with a random human guy.

.) She is extremely loyal to those she cares about. In the first movie, we find out that the big reason Selene is a Death Dealer is because she is avenging her family's memory. We also see that Viktor is the one she trusts the most and is implicitly one of the few higher-ups she listens to because he "saved" her and took her in after her family died. When Michael proves himself to be a good friend and partner to her, she does whatever it takes to protect him.

.) She doesn't much care about appearances. This kind of ties in to the first point, but it's implied that if Selene wanted to, she could be a high-class vampire lady. She's plenty attractive, is the favorite of Viktor, and has the affections of Kraven. She doesn't care about any of that though, and shoves it aside to uncover the lies going on.

.) Selene can get a little too focused on things. Case in point, her getting stabbed in the shoulder and trying to ignore it in favor of driving away. Also, later on, she's so focused on the Lycans in the building that she fails to notice Michael getting kidnapped on the streets below.

.) She can be completely merciless to anyone she doesn't care about. Attempts to kill all Lycans aside, in the climactic battle of the first movie, she sees her father-figure fighting her love interest. She just learned that said father-figure killed her family and lied to her about it. She calmly walks into the battle and slices off the head of the guy who took her in for a few centuries.
