I don't know if I mentioned this yet but what is up with these authors and hating on characters named 'Elliot'? In House of Night, Elliot is a ugly, disgusting, acne-faced nerd and here, Elliot is a scumbag and potential murderer. Granted, I'm not keen on the name, for personal preference reasons, but that doesn't mean I would create a character that would get the shit end of the stick at every chance. It just seems weird.
